GUARDIAN ANGEL

“Lisa”, thirty-two, was admitted to Hospice due to heart failure She has been on drugs since she was a teenager.  Unfortunately, she never did get the needed support to stop her addiction.   Our Hospice runs a facility that houses the terminally ill who are homeless.  There are five cabins on the property.

I went out to do the Social Work admission today, but Lisa was in a deep sleep.   Lisa's  brother, ”Ted”, was the primary contact.  I was able to talk with him about hospice support while also supporting his grief.  Ted’s heart was so vibrant.  Most of Lisa’s family has abandoned her, but htruly loves his sister unconditionallyTed continues to give his sister the best gift of all; pure and total love.

GUARDIAN ANGEL

Being her emergency contact,

I gave her brother a call.

He lives up north and is so involved.

Immediately I felt his love; his heart

                    the moment he said “Hello”.

She is only in her thirties with a poor heart.

She havery long history of using drugs.

She lost her daughter because she could not stop.

Her family has stayed away for years.

Her brother shared, "Our mom is on crack.

Our two other brothers have abandoned her.

She deserves support; she deserves understanding.

She will forever get that from me”.

His aunt embraced him as a child.

“She deeply loved and supported me.

We take walks and laugh together.

She has forever been my true mother”.

He has always been realistic about his sister.

He knows she has made poor choices,

but he loves her unconditionally

                              without any blame at all.

He spoke about feeling relief when this is over

as she will no longer be in pain and be suffering.

So beautifully, receiving much life long love

enables him to naturally give it over to her.

He truly is her

                               “Guardian Angel.”
