HELLO AGAIN

My brother’s family sent me a copy of his obituary.  A special part of that website, allows family and friends to write onto the post.   I have, in the past, attempted to write a narrative about my experience and nothing would easily appear in my mind.  Using a poetry format, somehow, easily triggers my inside thoughts and feelings.

This poem represents thoughts, emotions and my tremendous love for my brotherHe was such a special guy.

HELLO AGAIN

Hello again.

It’s good to feel your voice.

We would talk every month or so;

but it always felt like just yesterday.

I have so many fond memories about you;

your kindness and caring soul.

You were so much like Mom;

being positive, seeing the best in everyone.

I was the youngest of the three of us;

so, you, like Dad, always called me Babe.

I have wonderful recollections being with you.

Playing our favorite games on the front lawn.

You would lie on your back with your feet in the air.

I would sit on your feet, and you would fly me away.

Or we would play Mumblety-peg;

flipping a pocketknife hoping it would stick

                    into the lawn.

Your loving kindness embraced you always.

Your tremendous family forever by your side.

Your legacy is with all of us for eternity.

So, for always and forevermore;

                    Hello again.

Babe
